COMPLEXION PERFECTION: RICE FLOUR + ORANGE PEEL POWDER BEAUTY FACE MASK

Spring has sprung. And that means the wonderful scents of the season would most likely have us stepping out in style to catch some fun or probably go on romantic dates. It’s the season to look our best and be confident in our own skins. Whether we are still battling with skin issues or feel just at home with blemish – free skin, adding a magical glow isn’t really a bad idea, is it? Personally, I’ve been blessed with a smooth and supple skin that needs just a little effort on my part to bring it near perfection. However, the last few months have had my skin pass through rough times as my body goes through some hormonal changes. This has had me seriously addicted to natural bath products as a peep into my bathroom would get you to agree with this. On my shelf are various containers of scrubs, peels and homemade facial masks. And it’s not just the goodness they bring to my skin; there are also the scents. I love good natural scents and the relaxation they bring to my body and mind. And luckily, the ingredients are readily at home, so I do not have to go all the way, breaking the banks to get them on my shelf.

In this season of beauty, I’d love us to try perfecting our complexions by adding this aromatic complexion perfection recipe into our beauty routines. It takes just two major ingredients with a few drops of rose water and any essential oil of your choice; a good way to personalize your own recipe. Talking about Rice flour and Orange peel powder is like talking about a match perfected in heaven. So what’s so spectacular about these two?

Rice flour contains high levels of PABA (para aminobenzonic acid) which acts as a sunscreen. It also contains allantoin that soothes sunburns and promotes skin repair. The tyrosinase present in it controls the production of melanin in the skin. Rice flour also removes excess oil and sebum from the skin and is a rich source of Vitamin B which boosts new cell production and slows down the aging process. It also helps to brighten the skin by improving the collagen and elasticity of the skin. Orange peels in the same vein contain natural bleaching agents that help skin visibly fairer by eliminating dark spots and patches. It also protects skin cells from the rays of the sun and helps cleanse skin of surplus sebum. It contains antioxidant elements that help fight free radicals, preventing premature ageing of the skin by way of wrinkle formation and facial sagging. It’s high calcium content also protects skin from DNA damage and helps rejuvenate skin. A combination of these two powerful homemade ingredients is all you need to get your skin healthy and glowing this season. I strongly believe that you will join me in testifying to its magic upon trying it. So here it is in five easy steps:

  1. Mix equal amount of rice flour and orange peel powder
  2. Make a fine paste by adding rose water and a few drops of essential oil
  3. Apply the mixture over the skin and let it rest for 20 – 30 minutes
  4. Rinse it off with water
  5. Repeat at least three times a week

When using this aromatic face mask, be gentle while scrubbing as rice flour can be abrasive to the skin and do not apply it in areas where you have bruises or cuts. Be careful not to let the mixture enter your eyes and if it does, rinse it thoroughly with water. If you have dry skin, use a moisturizer after washing off the face mask and make sure to remove any make up before going to bed.

I’d love to hear some feedbacks after trying this homemade facial mask. If you also have any good tips, please feel free to share them with us.

  11. Rebecca C. Yungert says:

If you made too much of the mask, can you save it for the multiple applications a week that you suggest?

    1. No. It doesn’t have a long shelf life. I suggest you mix the rice flour and orange peel powder in a tight container, then mix your other ingredients each time you need to apply it.
